Lukewarm Christianity

Recently I read an article that was talking about a group of Atheists who said they were raised in church butwere asked whythey had since left the church, strayed or fallen in to their state of unbelief. Accroding to them, the answer was overwhelming. It was their observation of the “church people” who did not act like Christians outside the walls, who did not live like Christ. Theyw ere talking of the very people who they had watched grosing up, who could have and should have brought them into a relationship with Jesus, but who had pushed them away.

God has a biblical term for these type of  “Christians”…..Lukewarm.

In Revelation 3:16 reads, “So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of my mouth.” We can take this verse as a word of  warning against something that has plagued the church for far too long…Apathy.

So the question for us is this, “What are you doing? If what you are doing does not get you excited for the Cause of Christ and make you want to get out of the pew and into the fight then you need to change directions. Begin praying that God would  do a powerful work in your herat and remove whatver it may be that is keeping you enslaved and serving Him faithfully. Christianty is not a safe, easy or simple life. If you think it is, you are fooling yourself! We are called to sacrifice of our sleves not live the life of comfort and simply go through the motions.

We do not merely show up at church on Sundays so we can say ” Well, went to church,  I’m good until next Sunday!” and nothing more. There are so many around us who need to see Jesus through us. You may not realize this, but we are either pointing people to Jesus or pushing them away.

Each of us have a gift that can be used for God’s Kingdom. Everyone of us has a calling on our lives. Part of picking up our crosses and following Christ is finding out what are gift is and using it to advance the Kingdom of God.

We can no longer simply sit and watch the world go by. Our families, our church, our communities need us to step up and start being the church God has called us to be!  Begin today to find ways to serve Him, seek Him and lead others to  Him.
