Get Your Mind Right

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
Philipians 4:8

Have you ever noticed that tend to gravitate toward the things that we think about? We lean towards the very things that we often think about. Many times we do this without realizing we are doing so. It’s almost as though we are on Autopilot or cruise control.

Are you in the middle of a storm? Perhaps stuck in a rut? Stop for a moment and take a look at the things that are floating around in your thoughts. It is time for a change.

If you want to change your direction, start with changing what you think about most often. Meditate on the Love of God , His Hope and His Truth. See what God has in mind for you and discover that His plans are far above our own plans.

Want to change your direction right away? Here are 3 thoughts to help:
1. Engage in daily devotion. Read your bible, read a book of devotions that you find online.
2. Every morning take the time to write down 3 things that you are most thankful for.
3. Spend time in prayer daily. Even if it’s just to say”Thank you Lord for these 3 things I have written down.

Renew

Isaiah 40:29-31 – ” He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
And the young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.”

These verses are such a source of encouragement. They tell us that he gives strength to those who are weary, increases the power of the those who are weak. But tells us if we will just wait, the Lord will renew our strength.

We know that our Christian walk sometimes gets hard and we grow tired and weary, but we never shrink from the challenge God places before us. We always show up, never make pitiful excuses, and we are a example to those around us, both family and friends.

God provides a deep well of strength that we may pull from while we seek Him. He restores our souls and gives us purpose. If you begin to feel as though you can’t go any further, take a moment to rest. Make a list of everything that God has done for you and the times that He has done only what God can do. Then count those blessings and thank the Lord that He gives us the rest and will renew our strength.

Grab a Refill!

“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled.” Matthew 5:6

Our bodies need both food and water to to thrive.. without both of them, we would die. When hunger overtakes us and when we become parched because of thirst, nothing is more important than satisfying those basic needs of life.
Our souls are just like that. When we miss our time with God, whether it be through prayer, reading scripture or church, we ignore the basic food of faith we need, therefore running the risk of dimming our faith or killing our righteousness. As you hunger for more of God and seek Him daily through His word and prayer, you will be fed… you will be blessed… and you will be re-filled!!

Are You Playing It Safe?

Nowhere in the Bible do we find any scripture where we are told to play it safe as Christians.Jesus certainly never played it safe. He came into this world to bring light into the darkest places. He came to conquer death, sin and the grave. To conquer evil.  He never hid.
When adversity comes, and it will come at times, resist any urge you may have to hide your faith and play it safe.
Embrace the desire to grow.
Commit to knowing God better.
Get out of the shadows and rut you may be in.
Share and Express you Faith.
Start today and begin to live boldly for Jesus. Tell someone what He’s done for you, invite somebody to church, pray for that lost person in your life whether it be a family member, coworker or close friend. They may just be one invitation away from knowing Christ!

YOU are God’s Ambassador

You are living representatives of Jesus Christ in this world and for this world. Jesus Himself told us, ” Ye are the light of the world.” In the same text He says, ” Ye are the salt of this world.” So we are to shine where there is darkness. When we speak, we should be considerate of our words, our actions even our hearts toward everyone that we come across.
Do you you have a plan of action ? Do you have a plan for the words you use daily ?, How about the actions you are taking or the responses you give ?
You may be the only glimpse of God someone sees today.

Getting Answers to Your Prayers

“Does God really answer our prayers?” This is a question that comes up many times, especially when tragedy strikes or when someone has been praying for an extended period of time. Often we tend to use God as some type of magician or a genie in a bottle we found washed up on a beach. God doesn’t work like that. He’s not there to be used as a spare tire, that’s only needed when we have a blow out or in emergencies.
Nothing makes God happier than to give His children the desires of their hearts. But He wants that heart to be in sync with His. Have you noticed that the deeper we go into our spiritual walk, and the longer we have a relationship with Him, that our desires become different?
So are you rubbing the side of the genie’s bottle, hoping that God shows up and does some miraculous thing? Or, are you humbling yourself before God, asking Him to put your words, your talents and your love for Him and His church to work for HIS glory?
Focus on God today and just see if He doesn’t fill your need and set your desires on things that are above!

For One Another

We never quite take the time to say..Thank you. But we begin today’s post just to say exactly that. For those of you who give of yourself to build others up..we say thank you. To those who lie awake at night praying because you are carrying such a burden for someone, it may be your family, friends even a co-worker – thank you. May God bless you for having the heart to do these things.
May we all strive to be more accountable and dependable people of God. This was brought up last night during Bible study. Today, if you know of someone who is struggling to stay in the race and keep up, reach back for them and offer a hand. Lift them up in prayer so that God may reach back for them. Tonight as you end your day in prayer, pray for those who just want to make it one day at a time. Pray for yourself, your church, your church family , you Pastor.
There is a blessing waiting for you as your serve Him by ministering to those around you. Reach out and encourage someone today that may just need to hear that someone is thinking of them and praying for them.

Be a Joy Magnet

Matthew 12:35 “A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.”

This verse tells us that whatever is inside of us will make its way to the outward.
Our thoughts lead to words. Our words will lead to actions. Our actions lead to our habits and our habits form our character.
Dwell on hope, joy and generosity. Dwell on the things of God. These things will begin to flow out of your life and the people around you will begin to notice and reflect your joy back to you.
We are drawn to joy… it’s a signature of God’s love.
Strive to be the type of person that others want to be near. Start by focusing your thoughts on God’s grace, then listen to how your words change. See how your total person is changed for the better.
