Now What?

How do you know when you’re at a dead end? What causes you to think you’ve even reached a dead end?

Sometimes there are words we use to describe certain times in our lives when we feel most helpless, words like, “cancer,” “divorce,” “bankruptcy,” “infertility,” and “unemployment.”

When you’re stuck and waiting for your breakthrough, we have to keep believing God can do great things. The situation may be out of your control, but it’s never out of God’s. When faced with a dead end, don’t focus on what

you can’t do. Focus instead on what God can do for you and through you.

Romans 4:17b says,  “….he (Abraham) believed—God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did;”

There are two things God can do that you cannot: He can give life to the dead things, and he can create something out of nothing. If God can give life to a dead man, he can give life to a dead career. He can bring life to that dead marriage. He can bring life to that dead dream. He can bring life to that financial dead end.

It wasn’t just positive thinking that helped Abraham. Positive thinking is fine when you in a situation that you can control. But that’s not faith. These are two very different things.

In situations that are out of your control, positive thinking is worthless. It’s just wishful thinking. It doesn’t change the situation. When you’re in a place that is beyond your control, you need something more than a positive attitude. You need faith in God, because He can control it even when you can’t. We live most of our lives beyond our control, so we need faith far more than positive thinking.

Our God specializes in the impossible. He is ready to turn your dead end into a straightaway if you’ll let Him.
